As you may remember, I wanted to take the Kaleidoscope Pattern I made for Kim’s quilt, and make a bigger baby quilt. Today, I happily sat down at my sewing table and begin measuring, cutting, and sewing. A few hours later I realized I didn’t double the recipe! I was making the same size quilt I made the last time. (Kind of like last night when I tried to dye the eggs before hard boiling them!).

So back to the drawing board. I added more blocks to duplicate the quilt to 36″ x 48″. A nice sized baby quilt.

Now back to the beginning to cut more triangles!

When I saw these fabrics I immediately thought baby quilt.

Today I picked out a few matching fabrics to go with. Instead of choosing solids, I went with an assortment of almost solids. (Though I think I’ve already decided not to use the white).

I wanted to use the same Kaleidoscope pattern I made Kim’s Pink Quilt with, but instead of one block, making four. I also wanted to make sure I gave it the kaleidoscope feeling, so playing around in Adobe Illustrator, I put together this mock-up.

I can’t wait to get started!

The first day I met my friend Kim at a BBQ, she was in a pink dress, in pink high heels, in a pink camp chair. I knew in that moment we were going to be great friends.

I first saw this pattern on the A Stitch In Dye blog and knew I had to make it. With Kim’s birthday coming up, I chose a pink pallette. Happy Birthday Kim!
